About Joey

Joey Gase (born February 8, 1993 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa) is an American stock car driver. Racing has always been in Joey’s blood. His father raced locally in their hometown and that’s how Joey began his love of racing. Starting in go-karts at the age of 8, he has been able to work his way up through the ranks. He currently drives full-time in the No. 52 Chevrolet Camaro for Jimmy Means Racing in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, and also drives the No. 32 Ford Fusion for Go FAS Racing in the Sprint Cup Series on a part time basis.

Gase started racing at Hawkeye Downs Speedway in the track's junior classes (go-karts) in 2001 winning his very first competitive race leading him to win many championships throughout his go-kart career. In 2006 in the WKA (World Karting Association) Series Joey won Jr2 division Nationals at Fast Track in Indiana. He won in the Modified B class at La Crosse Fairgrounds Speedway in 2007 during Oktoberfest, the youngest driver ever to do so. In 2009, he became the youngest driver ever to win the track Late Model championship at Hawkeye Downs Speedway. In 2011 Joey’s mother, Mary Gase passed away of a sudden brain aneurysm. She was only 44. Being 18 Joey had many decisions to make as she had not remarried. Mary was an organ donor which left in a very emotional and difficult place that he had never experienced.
